VILLAGE POWER PROJECTS

THE EMPOWERING SCHOOLS CAMPAIGN

Village Power with support from Energising Development (Endev Uganda) have partnered on a campaign which aims to raise awareness of the social impact of solar within Institutions of learning by empowering them with quality, sustainable and affordable solar solutions to address their lighting needs. 500 systems in at least 100 schools across Uganda will be installed under this initiative.

THE EMPOWERING SCHOOLS CAMPAIGN
LIGHT UP KAKIRI

Village Power in partnership with the SOS Children’s Village have empowered over 2,000 people in the Kakiri community, by lighting almost 500 households with solar home systems. This project has benefited vulnerable households by enabling access through a subsidized offering that is endorsed and supported by the local community savings structures.  Beneficiaries value the positive impact that clean, affordable and modern electrification has added to their lives.  Village Power continues to offer after-sales service within the community as well as serve several more households though follow up initiatives.

ALLURE HIGHLAND COFFEE COOPERATIVE SUPPORTED BY POWER AFRICA

This is a Power Africa market expansion initiative in partnership with selected solar providers. Power Africa is producing a solar catalogue promotion which will reach 1400 farmers located in Nebbi, Zombo and Arua (Logiri Sub-county). The promotion targets 360+ farmers groups and began in December 2018.

MOBIPAY

Partnering with Mobipay in Dec 2018 the goal is to facilitate min. 600 farmers of the Northern Regional Cooperatives to purchase a good quality and reliable solar home system. Mobipay facilitates a trading platform for farmers to access buyers, provision and development of appropriate financial services (insurance and credit facilities from from financial institutions) developing a produce or warehouse receipting system, and the continuous collection of timely and relevant data within the sector.

LIGHT UP LORO

The Okaldyang Foundation and Village Power partnered together to improve access to electricity through catalyzing the uptake of Solar and therefore incentive the sale of up to 303 Village Power “S-1” Solar Home Systems (SHSs) to beneficiaries in Loro Sub county and Oyam District. Okalydyang Foundation is a community-based organization in Loro Sub County, Oyam District, that focuses on community development and promotes income generating activities through skilling youth, advocating for support for elderly people, vulnerable and orphaned children.
